Commenting on the latest awards, Parish Council, Chairman Councillor Clare Escombe, said:
“Twice a year Hawkhurst Parish Council, makes Community Awards to groups that make a positive difference to the life of the village. I am delighted that Hawkhurst Parish Council have been able to make awards to such deserving groups.”
Clare went on to say:
“Samaritan volunteers do outstanding work and our grant will enable them to pay for around 400 calls with distressed individuals in the Parish. Whilst our local Scout Group will now be able be able to get some new sound equipment to make their events even more appealing for the kids who attend. Also alongside other fundraising the contribution to the Hawkhurst Bonfire Society will enable them to put on a great show on the Moor this November.
Councillor Escombe concluded:
“The Parish Council has increased the Community Awards funding available and is considering a refreshed Community Award Policy with new guidelines for applicants at the Council meeting on Monday 9th September 2019”.
