Hawkhurst Parish Council – Planning Committee
We want to make you aware of some changes in the way that Hawkhurst Parish Council (HPC) will consider planning applications.
Our role remains the same – we are consultees and provide comments to Tunbridge Wells Borough Council (TWBC) which is the planning decision-maker. However, following our AGM last week, the Parish Council decided to mandate the Parish’s Planning Committee to consider applications and make recommendations on behalf of the Parish Council.
The HPC Planning Committee will meet every three weeks to align with the three-weekly planning cycle at TWBC. The key change for residents is that if you want to make comments on a planning application, you will need to attend the Planning Committee meeting rather than the Full Council meeting. If you wish to attend, please advise the Clerk prior to the meeting so he can log your intent. You will be given a three minute slot at the start of the meeting. We will publish the details of the applications to be discussed at each Planning Committee on social media and on the Parish Council website. By making this change, our intention is to provide a greater opportunity for public engagement in the planning decisions affecting Hawkhurst, and to ensure that our comments are submitted in time for TWBC planners, to properly consider our advice and comments
