Message from the Parish Chairman
It is with deep sadness that we learned of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
This loss will be felt deeply by everyone in our community of Hawkhurst, throughout our country, and the Commonwealth.
We offer our deepest condolences to the Royal Family.
As we reflect on The Queen’s remarkable life, we mourn her death. Her Majesty will be missed both here and around the globe.
Hawkhurst’s celebration of the Platinum Jubilee this summer, echoed the celebration the village held for the Coronation. For seventy years The Queen was a symbol of continuity and stability with her commitment to christian faith and dedication to public service for our nation and the Commonwealth. The heartfelt affection that our community have for Her Majesty is testament to her grace and dignity.
During the period of official mourning Parish Council facilities will be open, but we will not instigate any new meetings or events.

Chairman, Hawkhurst Parish Council
Flowers and Book of Condolence
Books of Condolence will be made available so you can write your own personal tributes. These will be at The Office at the Moor, Monday to Friday from 9:30am to 12:30pm, and at Hawkhurst Library during library opening hours.
People unable to get to the Book of Condolence can still have their handwritten messages included on their behalf. You just need to post your name and message to the Parish Council office, or email us, or telephone. Our contact details are at the bottom of this web page.
Messages need to be left before midnight on Tuesday 20th September to be included in the official Parish Book of Condolence, which will be communicated to the Palace. A bound version will be held in the Parish archive in perpetuity.
Should you wish to offer your condolences online you may do so through the royal.uk website.
Should you wish to leave a floral tribute to Her Majesty, these can be placed at the War Memorial and at the base of the flag pole at the KGV playing field at The Moor. Please avoid leaving any cellophane or plastic. The flowers will be removed on the day following the Queen’s funeral.
